What is Project HaloFit?

Essentially, it is a set of efforts concerned with the refinement of skill and performance assessment approaches in multi-player games (Halo 3 in particular) through the use of data mining and machine learning. For example, we are particularly interested in how in-game data can be leveraged to produce an "uncheatable" player ranking system, how this can be incorporated into matchmaking software to improve the user experience, and how feedback can be given to a user about their game performance. We are also interested in high-level team-based competitive multi-player gaming, such as can be found in Major League Gaming tournaments, and the modeling of team skill at that level. As the project progresses, we will make our datasets available to other researchers via this website for use in their work.
